SAP TechEd 2011

SAP ® TechEd 2011 was held at The Venetian/Palazzo Congress Center, Las Vegas, Nevada (9/12-9/16/2011). This annual event provides essential training for IT professionals who work with SAP systems. The four-day event attracted almost 6,000 attendees and offered more than 1,000 hours of educational content.

Sessions at TechEd are hugely popular and often oversubscribed. Attendees typically wait by their computers for registration to open up and then build a personalized agenda online. SAP wanted to ensure that these personal agendas would transfer seamlessly into each user’s app.

To achieve this goal, SwiftMobile integrated information from SAP’s third-party registration service. When registered attendees download the app they were asked to sign in using their confirmation number and a password they had been issued. Once they were signed in, they clicked an “Update Agenda” button under the MyAgenda tab and all of their reserved sessions were quickly downloaded into the app.

To help attendees navigate the numerous activities, panels, workshops and sessions, SwiftMobile also developed an elegant filtering system which was included in the apps. This allowed users to search the agenda by track, time, and type of activity. Such filtering is critical for meetings with large numbers of sessions and is now standard in SwiftMobile’s Premier apps.

Delivering Results and ROI

Analysis of post-event data showed incredibly high rates of use, repeat, use and significant time-in-app, suggesting that for most users, the app truly was indispensable. (To read more about these results, click here.)
