2011 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition

For its 25th Annual Meeting and Exposition, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientist’s selected SwiftMobile to provide mobile apps for this premier event.
Held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, the world’s largest gathering of pharmaceutical scientists hosts more than 10,000 attendees, 550 exhibitors and 3,500 sessions along with 31 symposia, 35 roundtables and mini-symposia, 15 sunrise sessions, and 6 short courses—all searchable by name, time, subject and speaker in this sophisticated app. Users can also highlight favorite sessions to create their own agenda.
This app was also customized to exclude social media for attendees. AAPS will be gathering data to understand the specific social networking needs of its audience for future meetings. SwiftMobile’s customizable platform made it easy to turn this feature off and produce a set of apps better aligned with AAPS values and needs.
Among the other distinctive features of AAPS’s apps is the “Nearby” or local information. AAPS is a diverse organization and this meeting attracts many international visitors visiting Washington, DC for the first time. To meet their needs, SwiftMobile curated a nearby unique map to identify restaurants that would meet the needs of everyone from vegetarian students on a budget to high-level executives entertaining clients. Restaurant listings include short blurbs drawn from reviews in the Washington Post, Yelp, and Chowhound, as well as phone numbers and links to Open Table pages for quick reservations. We also identified every major museum in central Washington, DC so that AAPS members who are attending with their families would find it easy to choose among and locate the city’s famous attractions.
